![]() State after the creation of CoScreen for this project and other users are online: Option 2: Additionally Add “Collaborate on CoScreen” as a project button.Īdvantage: Being able to show users who are already active in the project-specific CoScreen so they can join them instantly. From then on, any user who clicks the same button joins the same CoScreen. Option 1: Add “Open CoScreen” option to “Open in“ split-button (similar to WebIDE/Gitpod) for project and repo hierarchy:Ĭlicking “CoScreen” triggers the creation of a CoScreen in the name of the project and the user will join it directly. Note: Those mockups were created based on GitLab’s Pajamas Design System and we’re looking forward to iterating on the details between our teams. Users can remove and create a new project-specific CoScreen. ![]() Any user who joins from the same project joins the same collaborative workspace. Those CoScreens are persistent from then on. Project-specific CoScreens are created by the first user who chooses to collaborate on a particular project. ![]() The option to collaborate on CoScreen will appear on projects as well as the hierarchy of the repo (-/tree/branch/., /-/blob/branch/file/.). Enable GitLab users to collaborate seamlessly on projects The integration will provide software teams with an instantly shared context, no matter where they are in the development lifecycle on GitLab, so they can deliver code faster and without frustrations. Any of their collaborators can edit any window that’s shared instantly, and share any of their windows the same way, at the same time, side-by-side. They can instantly communicate via crystal-clear, subtle audio and video chat and share the GitLab UI and any other browser and desktop app with a single click. This proposal is based on helpful input from prior discussions with and then with CoScreen, users can connect with each other with a single click right from any project, MR, issue, and file in GitLab. The CoScreen integration for GitLab offers users a seamless way to collaborate synchronously right from within GitLab. Today, users have to negotiate in separate chat channels with which video chat tool and link they should connect, argue about presenter rights to determine who can share whatever they want to show, and the other participants explain desperately to the presenter where to navigate. But in some situations, connecting synchronously is crucial to be able to get on the same page instantly - for example in case of a time-critical incident, a complex code review that needs to be sorted out, or a controversial architectural decision that needs to be made. GitLab is a powerful DevOps platform that enables teams to collaborate asynchronously on the entire software development life cycle.
